Volta River

For the last portion of their stay, Sophie and Nicolas have decided to roam around Accra. Today is Eid el Fitr and I took them to the Eastern Region, around the Volta river. We started our visit at Atimpoku, where a beautiful steel bridge built in the early days of the independant Republic of Ghana crosses the Volta river. Here are the tourists observing what?

Large river isn't it? Well, on this shot, we've moved a little bit North and passed the Akosombo dam which is at the origin of the Volta lake, one of the largest (or even the largest according to many specialists) artificial lake in the world.

Deep inside the country side, the political campaign for the December election is still very visible!
