More of Cotonou

Here are some general views of Cotonou... Generally speaking, one cannot claim Cotonou to be a very beautiful city. It is far more polluted than Accra because of the numerous two-wheelers that circulates around the city. There isn't a lot of beautiful building and most of the city is under a great pressure from the rate with which new people arrive from outside... A typical developing city if I may say so...

Our hosts in Benin where taking us on their bikes to visit the field. Here is the herd of bikes in 'Quartier des Ambassades', next to the sea that month after month eats away the seashore and gulping house after house...

A proud beneficiary of Alidé living in the area, who I found paticularly elegant and shiny!

Here is the beach of Cotonou with remainings of a house that once stood there before being swallowed by the sea.

Again, for French speakers, a piece of literature one should miss (more or less translatable by "Forbidden to shit or smoke here. The police")

And a group of beneficiaries staying next to the beach... Quite a group picture na?
