Tamale

The city of Tamale is by far the biggest city of Northern Ghana, a sort of gateway to Sahel. It is also known as the city of NGOs, as the region is said to be one of the poorest of the country. But it is surprising to discover upon arrival in the city the quality of the road network, quite obviously heavily subsidized by foreign grants, next to slums and deprived areas. Here is a snapshot of the central mosque of Tamale, whose population is largely muslim.
